I just hope the shitlord bourbon buying club doesn't get into collecting the fricking Irish/Scotch whiskys I like. I don't want them to turn my $35 daily drinker into a $400 secondary market find.

With most booze (beer included) I can't stand cheap/crappy stuff but much past that my enjoyment doesn't typically scale equivalently with the typical increase in price that goes with the better booze. For me, Jameson is quite alright. It's inexpensive but smooth as silk. There are absolutely better whiskies out there and definitely ones with more flavor, but every bar can make you a Jameson on the rocks so at worst it's a good fallback.
Now, that redbreast is damn delicious, and once every blue moon I'll splurge and pick up a bottle, but even then it's hard for me to justify going that way when I can get an entire handle of Jameson for less than the fifth of redbreast. All that being said I haven't had any in a while and might have to pick up a bottle of redbreast on my next booze run.
When it comes to scotch I typically go with any of the main Glens or sometimes macallain, though I haven't bought scotch in some time.
Never had any Welsh whiskey and while I can say I technically have drank British whiskey I don't know that I've ever really drank good British whiskey.

One thing I find, and this is my taste, when comparing the same whiskey but at different ages that the older one is good and may be better, but the price point does not warrant the purchase. For instance in Irish: I like Green Spot a lot at $62 and I like Yellow Spot but it is $115. Same with highland Park, I like the 12 at $55 and I like the 15 but it is $150.
For the price I could buy at least 2 of the younger whiskey and still get a great whiskeys and great experience.

Maybe so, but looking at the last five pages there are:
Bourbon posts 47
Scotch 1
Irish 1
Rum 2
pretty standard for that group about 90-95% bourbon posts.
There were zero Rye or American whiskey posts?

About 10 years ago Jameson started experimenting and I think this is one of the best they make, for taste and for price.

The Jameson caskmates series is a pretty damn cool product. From a taste perspective it's good and worth trying if you're a Jameson fan but not necessarily revolutionary. What makes it cool is how they make it. There's a fransican well brewery in Cork (that makes some absolutely fabulous beers) and they have a stout that they age in used Jameson casks. Well Jameson started buying back those casks and then aging Jameson in that. It's neat. Gives a faint stoutiness to the whiskey but mostly I just think it's cool. Also makes me think those casks have have some serious miles on them by that point. I want to say Jameson uses used bourbon or sherry casks, that then age Jameson, that then age beer, that then age Jameson again.

I think the bottles are half the appeal. Works of art - some of them. Here's my entry (apothecary bottle w/ cork stopper) and a pretty nice single malt sipper (120 proof)...

For $30-40, I haven't found a cheaper staple that I like better.

Glenmorangie is hard to beat for the price.
Macallan is always smooth.
Lagavulin is great for when you want something really peaty.
Bunnahabhain is probably my favorite Isla.
Laphroaig is a good buy too. The basic 10 year will do fine.
Nothing wrong with Balvenie Double wood.

This bottle is one of my absolute favorites. If I knew how to post a damn picture I would. I went to the distillery and their tasting room was an amazing wall of nothing but Abundh and it was GLORIOUS

My go to depends on my mood. I have had probably close to 400-500 whiskys in my life. I have done 2 trips to Scotland and will be making a 3rd. I freaking love it.
Rather than a specific pour my favorite distilleries are Aberlour, Glenfarclas, Balvenie, and Bunnahabain. I have to be in the mood for a pour from any of the distilleries on the south coast of Islay.

Irish. There's no Limerick Whisky that tastes like old cigarettes, no Dublin Whisky that tastes like old cigars, etc. The only Scotch I seem to enjoy is Macallan 12.
Tullamore is the standard. Black Bush is the treat, but I do not like Irish that's been aged in bourbon casks. Sherry casks seem to be my clear preference, with Irish done in Rum casks right up there. Macallan 12 is from Sherry casks, shocking, I know.
Tullamore distillery "museum" in 2007-ish was fantastic. It was no shite 2x4 floors, two stories, and one lady that offered me a shot of Irish Honey at 1030AM. I think they've replaced it, but I got an inside scoop of the business of the Peaky Blinders. That version of Bushmills is pretty good too.
Among the bourbon bros in my group, they seem to like the Slane.

A few years ago at an Irish restaurant/bar in the DC area (can't remember the name) I had an Irish single malt called Connemara that I really, really enjoyed. I've never been able to find it for sale anywhere else, though. But if you should happen to run across it, I highly recommend it.

It is a softer peat similar to Highland Park on the Scotch side. Definitely one to look for

I agree, speaking of which check out the change in the Irishman which I think is an improvement, while Powers I think looks more like a gin bottle now.

Funny… I left a bottle of that in my DC office when I changed jobs. Never made it back to that office so it is still there.
