San Diego Dinner

Going to San Diego in 1.5 weeks, was able to get a night out without kids for a nice dinner.
Any suggestions? Staying at the Hotel Del Coronado and will have a car. Not really interested in steakhouses and menu should have good seafood
Was looking at Little Italy (open to other neighborhoods but don't want to drive out to La Jolla for this) and these stood out to me:
Juniper and Ivy
Herb and Wood
Civico 1845
Bencotto

I ate bencotto a couple weeks ago. Wasn’t remarkable but was good.

I would go down to the gaslamp district and eat at a restaurant there and walk around.

I’ve been to Water Grill. Great experience and food. Seafood heavy menu. I’ll be there last weekend in July also. Will catch the Padres/Rangers game on Sunday and find something near the stadium for dinner.

Thanks - hadn't even considered Water Grill menu looks good
Read very good things about Callie
Tough when you only have one meal to get it right haha

Juniper and Ivy is okay. Herb and Wood is one of the best restaurants in SD. Bencotto was my favorite Italian in the city, but it’s been a while. So you have a good lineup already.
You’ll notice many hot spots are all owned by one team. Everything they own is fantastic, even if they are kinda overtaking the city.
Edit - just saw it’s only one meal. Herb and Wood is def the choice from what you say.
Otherwise, check into Born and Raised if you’re steak people. It’s over the top, decor wise. Lots of the food is made tableside and their service style is meant to be showy.
Full list of what they own.
If you’re getting drinks, there’s a big speakeasy style scene in SD. And for many of them; the bar the speakeasy is located in is just as good as the speakeasy itself.

Noble Experiment and Young Blood inside Neighborhood are both awesome. Moreso than a couple other cocktail bars that curate drinks on taste preference, Young Blood nailed it. Great experience at, honestly, a good price.
ETA: Quick S/O to Neighborhood's smashburger. I always make a pitstop to the bar on my way out of Young Blood.

Not saying it’s not good but I like to avoid chains when traveling and try some place truly local.

WaterGrill very good steak was better then Lion Fish, but it was large not intimate
Lion fish I enjoyed it more then Water Grill. The wine list was awesome. Steak and sushi were both good. Lobster Mac and cheese and brazed Brussels sprouts
We're fantastic. The waiters were great much better experience over all.
Asti is a traditional Italian best chicken parm I've ever had.

Mister A’s is also a great spot
