Just getting toilet tissue and paper towels alone, I get my money's worth every year... add beer and I'm well into the positives.

Forgot about the twin packs of pork loins. That is a must buy every trip. Cant beat the price. Dad has been buying those for years from there.

Don't know how this thread has gotten this far without mentioning their pizzas. For $8, they can't be beat.
Also, if your local sam's makes the buffalo chicken wraps in the deli, try them.
CastleWood sliced meats are really good, too.

If you cook - spices at Sam's are very cheap. You can get more than double the amount of thyme, basil, oregano, bay leaves, black peppercorns, etc. at Sam's than at the everyday groc. (including Wal-Mart on Highland), and for half the cost. Good spices...not the Dollar Store varieties.
Not sure about this. Preground spices go bad fairly fast, and you would have to cook a lot of Italian food to use up a Sam's size think of oregano in a year. I prefer to buy spices at Whole foods, where they sell it by the ounce. It's cheaper than you think and you're ensured that your spices are fresh.

Oregano isn't just for meatballs, sauce, etc,. If you were really worried about spices going bad than you'd want to grow your own. Head over to the farmer's market on Perkins (Martin's lot). It's small but there's a guy there that sells nice and hard to find herb plants for $1-3 a pop.

OK, I'll be that guy

If there was a COSTCO in the same city, I'd probably be a member of them over Sam's.

You can keep spices in the freezer to prolong the shelf life. I don't buy spices at Sam's, normally, but crab boil and things like that for a crawfish boil are usually a good buy.
I've heard Costco is better than Sam's, but since we don't have one near me, Sam's it will be and when the Moms and the Pops start selling like Sam's, I'll shop in bulk there. I prefer to shop local, but it's not always the way to go. Sam's and Wally World both employ quite a few local folks, so I'm helping in my own way.
