It's honestly not that easy of a place to get food and drinks. Unless you're going on very off hours, like 3p on a Monday it's going to take forever to get seated. Tuesday or Friday night @ 7 o'clock? Good luck.

Why would their success be a mystery to you if you realize that most people don't value the same things you do?

The Rum House is a BR level restaurant.
It's far from alone in being a mediocre restaurant that does well in New Orleans.

I'm not any kind of BR homer, FWIW. As soon as I can find something in New Orleans that wouldn't require too much of a pay cut I'll be there.

To the other poster claiming its an easy place to get food and drinks. Your assumption is it's the only place like that.

God, you sure do read a lot of shite into things that isn't really there, don't you?

What do people that love Rum House value?
I said, it is disappointing that NOLA would support the Rum House as strongly as it does.

True, but it's easily the most successful.

You will be welcomed. New Orleans has too many options for people to settle for Rum House. I think people who enjoy trying new restaurants are rewarded in NOLA.

You don't have to be a foodie to understand the Rum House is overratted.

It's a mystery to you because there's a delta between what you think most people in New Orleans value and reality.

This dude has got to be a restaurant owner that is failing but provides good food for 30 bucks an entree.

People go to places for more than just the quality of the food. When you are at a restaurant with everyone having a good time, drinks flowing, that has real value.

You seem to judge a place by how the food tastes only. And their food isn't so bad it's not worth going. Homemade salsa is great and I got their mandarin salad last time which was fantastic.

Did the owners of Rum House rape you or something. I think at least half of your post history is you bitching about this place.

Most overrated place in New Orleans.

Actually, no . . . not it's not. Just because it's packed doesn't mean it's overrated. In fact, that means quite the opposite by any reasonable definition of the term.

I don't eat there much anymore because of the crowd. I certainly don't think it's haute cuisine. However, it's reliable and the prices aren't all that bad.
