you should see the people that come in from out of state racking up on liquor. Boxes at a time. I guess the Rouses in Slidell is the first store to hit when coming in to La and first off the interstate to get alcohol like this.

The Winn-Dixie on Hwy. 21 in Covington is leaps and bounds better than any Rouses.

ETA: Not sure about the CBD location yet. I haven't been in it.

What about the new store on Baronne. It looks nice. What do you think about it.

I agree the Winn-Dixie on 21 in Covington is better than any Rouses (especially in design and layout) I had been to prior to the opening of their CBD location. The Rouses on Baronne has moved ahead of it as my favorite grocery store in the area.

They are supposed to be building a Winn Dixie nearly identical to the one on Hwy. 21 in Mid City on N. Carrollton, BTW.

I have lived in Houston and Louisiana. Would trade for a HEB or even Kroger to get rid of Rouses. Rouses is so expensive and they dont double or triple coupons

I shop at Rouses in Houma and I do not have any complaints other than price, and I am OT Baller rich. The place is very, very expensive.

Cannata's makes the best king cakes over here.

what i like about rouses is that it has a better selection than the cheap stores (fresher produce for example), carries some inventory that rivals whole foods and fresh market but at a cheaper price.

it is more expensive from other places, no doubt but i think the quality is better.

HEB is better than rouses because they sell beef cheek and i love barbacoa!

I was so damn excited to have a great grocery store right by our tailgate, that you would've thought I won the lottery. Out of booze...don't mind if I do cross the street to get more...and I didn't even need to bring vaseline.

If you're talking about the Calanadro's on Govt, I am with ya.

Plus, they should pay me to go in there and have to put up with those cashiers. Those women make me sick.

I like Rouses. I dont grocery shop there but I go in for beer, wine, meats, boudin, sausage, and other specialty meats they may have.

The Boudin is good. The guy in Slidell by I-10 makes a good one.

I once thought Rouses had a good seafood department. The shrimp are usually good. But the last two times I bought drum there, I believe they sold me freshwater drum, which is a trash fish. It was previously frozen, I believe, but it had the texture of Big League Chew thirty minutes after first chew. Nothing but rubber. Anyone else have trouble with Rouses' drum?
