Yes. Double MSRP is still cheaper than secondary in some cases. At least no one has to wait in line this time.

No, you have to buy cherries and crappy wine to get a taste of rare

Still though, I've gotten baskets with Russell's 13 for $150, EHT Small Batch for $76, and others. Some of them are not great deals. Some of them are very good deals.

Never had a bourbon that tasted worth twice its value.

Interesting that you used "value" instead of MSRP. I can think of a great many whiskeys I've had that I'd easily pay double MSRP, and not just to resell them at secondary.

You wouldn't pay $150 for EH Taylor Barrel Proof, or $130 for Stagg?

No.

But I don't think I look for the same thing in bourbons that those willing to overpay do.

My question is how high of a number do you need to get anything decent?

Each store gives out 50 in order "opportunities to purchase." Is there anything good left after the 4th person picks something?

Depends on your collection Just got the email saying I'm 47th at one location. I will not be attending. I'd say top 5 would be my cutoff. Anything beyond is likely disappointing for me personally.

Got my email just now too. Mid 30s. Buddy of mine got late 40s. Said he isn’t rolling out of bed at 7 on a Saturday for crap he can buy off the shelf every day. I wonder what happens to unsold baskets.

Of the things listed in the email:

quote:

Blanton's Gold, Blanton's Straight from the Barrel, Elmer T Lee, Weller Full Proof, High West Campfire, High West Rendezvous Rye, Four Roses OBSO, Stagg Jr., EH Taylor rye, and several other highly sought after bottles.

The only things I'd want are the Stagg, SFTB, and maybe the Weller Full proof.

I'm 16 at my location. Guessing there won't be much left. The 2 High West bottles (while decent) are a joke to put in a basket.

Unfortunately we can’t have nice things like booze raffles at grocery stores in Alabama!

Gotta be honest, my collection is looking real slim lately.

Might not be anything good, but I don't have time to hunt. If I can show up and buy a bottle of something above average at retail price, I'll take it.

Also really hoping alot of people just don't show because they're expecting the good shite to be gone in the first 5 people.
