I lived near the grocery store which is now Breaux Mart. That place had so many different names. Jubilee, That Stanley, Nationals!

I still call any plastic bag a "national" bag.

Small Chalmette/world. My family owns that property. It's split between many. It was Jubilee before Katrina hit.

Yep my grandpa lived on Laplace but right on Genie. He always likes to shop at schweggmans though. Mom always went to the Winn Dixie.

If you’re on the northshore, Dichristina’s in Covington serves some of the same food (definitely the mac, veal, and gravy) with some additions to the menu. The owners were involved with Rocky’s before the hurricane. You definitely don’t get the Rocky’s atmosphere, but the food is still great.

I almost mentioned this place.

It's a place I always stop by when in the area. Love the crawfish eggplant and crawfish corn soup.

Anyone enjoy Arabi food store?

I remember being in there as a kid watching the women in the kitchen yell at the old man Rocky to unlock the cooler. He kept the steaks locked up all day

Charlie's rocks. You mention Arabi food store. Good stuff. How about old Favalora's back in the day?

Hmmmm....I'm drawing a blank. Might be before my time in the parish. I'll ask my uncle.

Not an old place but some boiled shrimp and crawfish etouffee at Today's Ketch is another stop/meal of mine.

Hey Morbid. Do you remember Trietler's? I thought their hogshead cheese was some of the best around. Remember my uncle stopping there on the way home from fishing Hopedale.

when i saw the name

i immediately thought hogshead cheese.

I'm not even a fan of that stuff but, the names go together.

Tag's is still there as well. I used to cater a lot of my parties with their 3 ft po-boys.
