The owner of Clancy's passed away at the age of 75.
Clancy's was, and still is, one of my favorites. Brad was a great restraunteur who took his food and wine seriously.
I have been there many times. The most memorable was on a Friday night, the first night they opened after Katrina. A friend of mine called me that afternoon and said that he had reservation for four and asked if we wanted to go. We said "Of course".
We got there early and found a Mardi Gras - like atmosphere on the street and sidewalk outside the building. It was packed with people without reservations who couldn't get in for dinner, but who just wanted to be there to be part of the scene. The bar was doing a booming go cup bustiness that night. That showed how much the restaurant meant to the city and the uptown neighborhood.
Brad will be missed.

Hate to hear that. Great restaurant, one of the best in the city. Hope there is a plan to carry on and keep it going.

Clancy's was my first fine dining New Orleans experience over two decades ago, recommended by a Chef friend of mine. Had the Oysters and brie as an app and a Gulf shrimp/fish entree. Incredible.

Agree because of Brian at the helm. But Clancy's became Clancy's as you know it under Brad. My grandfather bought in with Judge Livaudais back in the day and sold to Brad in the late 80's. It's been incredible what he has consistently done with the place and the moves he has made. RIP BH
