Bringing my family to Destin, FL for the first time. We are staying at the Hilton Sandestin, what are some good places to eat, preferably in or near the Baytowne Wharf. Thanks in advance

Don't go to Poppy's! Everything is overpriced over there, but they are the worst. And, their food is "supposed" to be seafood/cajun, but far from it--no flavor at all on the fish dishes.

I actually liked Rum Runners food and Graffiti--both casual and both in Baytown Village. Also, Seagars in the Hilton is very nice.

Harbor Dock in Destin is fantastic!

Thats def. one of my favorites. I eat there at least twice if I'm down for a week. Two years ago I tried some new (kinda fine dining) where I think Harry T's use to be ages ago. Weird name but the food was outstanding. Also, don't tell anyone but Dewey Destins is great as well (Grouper Parm.) If you go there, buy lots of beer when you order. You wait in line, order, then go sit. You'll have to wait in line again if you want more beer.

Place I couldn't remember the name is Zampieri's Harbor Grill

just got back from Destin and ate at this Mexican joint called La Paz. I'm not saying this is some 5 star restaurant, but damn my food was great. Chips and salsa were excellent, 2 different types - a milder green and a spicy red. I got a taco and enchilada with mexican rice. Both were great. Only knock on this place was that the service was slow, but it was a packed house.

You might want to check out Criolla's - upscale (meaning expensive), but owned and operated by a good old Louisiana boy:

Seegar's in the Hilton is good but Pricey. Elephant walk is overpriced, overrated and over weight.
Ocean club at the front of Tops'l next door is the best.

Definitely go to McGuire's Irish Pub. Get some beer, the bean soup, and a burger or steak. I had a Black Jack burger last week and it was great. Anything I have ever ordered there has been good (appertizers and desserts too).

Ciao Bella Pizza in the Silver Sands outlet mall has great pizza. We go there every year. There is another location down by McGuire's.

They shut this place down years ago. It's now called Finz and is no longer a poplular late afternoon party spot.

Also the Donut Hole used to be really good. We used to go there for breakfast and burgers but haven't been in a few years.

Don't forget to stop by the Krispy Kreme drive through for a late night snack and some donuts for the next day. When hot and fresh these donuts are unbeatable.

The breakfast buffet at the Sandestin Hilton is very good and has a cook who prepares your custom omelet or waffle (just fill a cup with your ingredients). It was a litte pricey, but I enjoyed it despite not being a big fan of breakfast in general.

Ate at the ocean club 2 weeks ago. It was excellent. It's right next door in front of the Tops'l resort. Also, Jordannos pizza right down the street is good and they deliver

look at a thread from last week sometime and you will see to NOT head back into Destin unless you have all day but go out 98 to 30A and wind along the coast there. There a a ton of really good resturants.

No joke. That place is great in Lafayette. I didn't even realize I liked breakfast until I ate there.
