Looking to take my father-in-law to a great meal in nola next weekend. He doesn’t own a suit if that helps narrow down some places. He likes seafood and steak. I want to give him a nice experience without having to dress up ( nice shirt and pants). Any suggestions? I’m thinking Frankie and johnnys. Any ideas would be helpful.

We like Mr. John's and he may also since he is older. Very classic menu prepared nicely and no suit required.

There’s only like 1-2 restaurants in NOLa where you need a jacket so you should be fine anywhere.

Seafood: Peche

Steak: Doris Metropolitan, La Boca, Mr John’s

I like the idea of Mr Johns for this situation. It’s not my favorite but they make a great steak (best NY Strip) and have Italian options. It’s a good place for an older person.

Mr johns can get loud tho.

If you’re in the FQ, galatoires 33 would be a good option. Sit at the bar. Underrated little place

Impastato's in Metairie has a pecan-smoked filet that is worth the trip.
It's a great restaurant.

I like the idea of Mr Johns for dinner then going next door to Hot Tin for an after dinner cocktail and a great view of the city.

Very few places you HAVE to wear a jacket, couple more it would be nice. Goto GW Fins or Peche for seafood.
