I get frozen tamales from Trader Joe's and use a couple very wet paper towels and stick in the microwave and they come out fine.

this for cereal? This would be my way to go. I don't own a rice cooker either.

How long? Just keep checking them I suppose considering microwaves can vary wildly

Do you have a colander? Like one that you would strain pasta with? If so boil a small amount of water in a pot, set the colander down in the pot where it's not touching the water, cover the top with the lid of the pot and you're good

I use the microwave for small amounts. I put them in a casserole dish, put a wee bit of water in it, cover with plastic wrap, poke a few holes in the wrap and start on a moderate temp, checking until they are heated. The microwave can dry them out on the edges, so be careful.

If you don't have a steamer basket, put some water in a pot with a cover, wad up some foil, put a colander on top of the foil and put the tamales in the colander, cover and heat. Or if you don't have a colander, put the tamales on top of the foil and do the same.

I balled up some wax paper and made like a little rack in a glass casserole dish with a lid. Put half an inch of boiling water in the bottom, stacked them long ways, put the lid on, tossed them in the microwave for 5 min. Have a min and a half left to see if I'm da man or not.
