I remember going in the 90s. I ate lunch one day there about 4 years ago and thought it was good.

I want to bring my little boy there because of the aquarium but the SO thinks its going to be gross

It’s gross. Went there about 6 years ago and it looked like the same crowd as what you’d expect from an Applebee’s or something. Food was meh

Back in the late ‘70s-early ‘80s, I used to eat at Ralph & Kacoo’s in the Quarter and then in Metairie all the time, and it was great - good food and huge portions. After they sold out, it really started going downhill. A few years ago I ate at the one in Baton Rouge though and thought the food was pretty good.

Today my son and I are in Mobile for a seminar he’s giving, and we planned on eating lunch at Felix’s Fish Camp. Got there and it was packed, and we didn’t have time for the wait. Across the highway was a Ralph & Kacoo’s that was not crowded at all. Nice looking place on the water, so we gave it a shot. When we left I commented that it was the worst meal I can remember having in a long time. He got a fish/shrimp lunch combo, and I asked him if he was sure he wanted the lunch special instead of the dinner platter. Since we had onion rings to start, he went with the lunch special. It had 3 shrimp and 3 small fish slivers. I knew the lunch special would be smaller, but damn. The food was VERY mediocre. I was looking forward to a stuffed potato, and it tasted like a plain baked potato with cheese melted on top. I had a soft shell crab/oyster combo platter (not lunch special). It had two of the smallest soft shell crabs I’ve ever seen, but at least there were two. Had about 8 fried oysters around the size of a quarter that were practically raw. Literally the most disappointing meal I’ve had in many years. I can see why they were almost empty and Felix’s was packed.

Stopped by here to get my mom and I something to eat on the way to Baton Rouge General and it was pretty bleh. Seafood Alfredo sauce tasted like it came from a can. Shrimp were freezer burned or old frozen leftovers. Lump crabmeat was nowhere to be found. Mom got grilled chicken and it was like a basic grilled chicken bread I paid way to much for. Remember the old times and let it be. Place was dead on a Wednesday night. Not the best night to eat but we were literally the only people there at 7 the entire time.
