Want to eat brunch at Galatoire's on December 17. Earliest reservation was for 2 o'clock. Is it reservations only now or will we be best served going at 11 and waiting in line?

waiting in line?

Meals at the old guard restaurants take hours. I wouldn't wait in line for a table to open up.

That's a Sunday right? I'd just go early and try to sit downstairs. That's where you get the real experience anyway. Don't know what it will be like that day, but the last few times I've been there I've just walked right in.

Do they do "brunch?" Will probably just be the regular menu, right?

Reservations are probably for upstairs. You don’t get the full Galatoire’s experience up there. I would rather wait for downstairs no matter what the time.

around the holidays all these places are packed but last two times I've been we walked right up and weren't turned away and once was during mardi gras
you can always sit at the bar in the back while you wait for the table

Did they tell you whether your reservation would be upstairs or downstairs? Last time I called for a reservation, they told me they couldn't guarantee downstairs since they take the walk ins. It would be whatever was available at that time. We didn't want upstairs, so we went early for dinner and sat downstairs.

I've never had brunch there. I think there's only about 3 egg dishes on the menu if I recall.

That date is very close to Christmas, so it will be busy and you'll be taking your chances, so I'd go pretty darn early.
