Anyone here tried the 8 hour diet aka intermittent fasting?

I use intermittent fasting daily while following the keto diet. My last food will be 10pm in the evening, then I'll stay fasted til around 1230pm the next day, where I take in nothing but water or black coffee. Usually workout at 1115am and eat afterwards.

I find it easy to fast while I'm on keto because I don't have the hunger that accompanies the up and down insulin levels. It helps keep you disciplined and prevent mindless snacking as well, for those logging food and keeping an honest calorie/macro count.

So how closely do you monitor what you eat during that 8 hour window? I know some people that don't really count calories and still lose/maintain weight just by abiding by the 8 hour window.

I do the same as you, although I didn't realize at first I was doing IF. I am just not much of a breakfast person during the week.

Do you ever do "bullet proof" coffee, instead of just black?

I've had lots of bulletproof coffee, but that wouldn't be a fasted situation. I used to drink it when I was going for long morning cycling rides when training for the MS150 a few months back.

What about Stevia?

Can the Keto Court give a ruling on that?

What about Stevia?

stevia is fine. But a lot of times when people are talking about stevia, they referring to something that has erythritol, the sugar alcohol. Stevia has a bitter taste. Erythritol has a cooling effect, combined they work pretty well. Pure stevia is dosed in very small amount, like 1/4 tsp. Erythritol is a bulk product, like granular sugar (but 70% as sweet as sugar).

Here's a pic of products I have at home. Bulk erythritol, powdered stevia extract, and liquid stevia. note the serving sizes.

So a packet of Truvia, someone might call that stevia, but it's mostly erythritol with a tiny bit of stevia extract.

Regarding sugar alcohols, erythritol is the only product I'll eat, except for chewing gum which usually has sorbitol and xylitol. I avoid maltitol completely. Unfortunately, 95% of "sugar-free" products you'll find at the store will be made using maltitol, mannitol, or isomalt.

I use Swerve as my sugar substitute. It is a local company out of NOLA and several of my friends work for them. It is Erythritol as well.
