I just glanced at photos of a couple that lost wieght together. The before and after imageries is so shocking that you would almost say it was not even possible that they are the same couple.
it's amazing how different people look when they lose weight.
About a month ago, my best friend got a new girl, and after I met her for the first time and left, my friend showed her my pictures from before but didn't say who it was, just asked if she recognized who it was. She didn't realize it was me. When I go back and look at my own befores, I can't believe I let myself get to that point. What we do in this thread is changing lives, guys.

you go hulk! save your photos from today. 6 months from now you'll be saying the same thing about those

yep, this is quite possibly the most productive thread ever on TD. its karma to offset the bile on the poliboard and the jj/jl meltdown on the rant.

CAD if I remember correctly, didn't you used to have a sig quote about not needing lots of cardio to lose weight? We all know thats true but alot of us on here are doing it maybe you should give it a try. It seems to help me break plateaus, along with your now famous fast. I just finished my 5th fast, and look forward to tomorrows weigh-in. Keep up the good work people, I am nearing my 5 mo anniv and am so glad I started. Yall have been a ton of help

CADs bike rides are much, much, much more than the necessary cardio to lose weight..

thats kind of my point of my old sig quote. i ride and train hard for bike races; often putting in 300+ miles a week on my bicycle yet that has virtually no impact on my weight.
eta and these are not easy rides; i do hill repeats (going repeatedly up the same 1-mile hill) as hard as i can until i'm about to vomit..go down and rest for 3 minutes..then do it again..6-10x.
i remember thinking the first time i rode 100 miles i'd weigh 15lbs less the next day. ironically i weighed in a pound higher the next morning.

There is a little hill that I would like to introduce to you. It is termed the beast by most that ride on it. Uphill the grade will kill you, downhill sans brakes you should be able to do 100 yards into the sea easily.

Think I want to start posting my workouts here every day. Cool with you guys? There's a special cool extra with this one.
BB Bent over rows: 60x15, 80x15, 100x12
DB bench press: 30x15, 35x10, 25x10
Lat pulldowns: (Chest( 80x10 70x12 60x12
Standing military press: 60x10 70x5 50x7
Tricep cable pulldowns: 60x15, 70x12, 80x10
BB standing bicep curls: 40x15, 50x10, 30x10
Chest press: 70x12, 50x12
So far my workouts haven't shown me improvement on the scale, but I have been able to feel the difference. Well, finally I can see a difference. Between the thermogenic and the lifting, in one week I've lost 2.7% of my body fat. From 33.6% on 2/8/12 to 30.9% today. Finally, some numbers that show me what I'm doing is working. The scale should catch up.

225/192/185 finished my 5th fast, lost a pound. I think this 192 range is a bit of a plateau as in the past I've gotten stuck here as well.

WELL WELL WELL..what have we here?
LINK /
quote:
While many of us wonder just how much exercise we really need in order to gain health and fitness, a group of scientists in Canada are turning that issue on its head and asking, how little exercise do we need?
The emerging and engaging answer appears to be, a lot less than most of us think — provided we’re willing to work a bit.
Here we go again! Don't tell LE!
quote:
For years, the American Heart Association and other organizations have recommended that people complete 30 minutes or more of continuous, moderate-intensity exercise, such as a brisk walk, five times a week, for overall good health.
But millions of Americans don’t engage in that much moderate exercise, if they complete any at all. Asked why, a majority of respondents, in survey after survey, say, “I don’t have time.”
yeah and they also advocate SHITLOADS of grains and sugary starch in your diet too and we see how well that's worked out for people. lets tell people to eat MORE of what already lights a fire under their insulin-induced hunger-reaction. THAT WILL WORK! PUBLISH IT AS A PYRAMID!
quote:
“The hard work is short,” she points out, “so it’s tolerable.” Members of a separate, exercise control group at the rehab center, assigned to complete standard 30-minute moderate-intensity workout sessions, have been watching wistfully as the interval trainers leave the lab before them. “They want to switch groups,” she said.
