I suppose you realize that when you go out this weekend, you'll be drinking water with a spritz of lemon or lime. Right?

Of course, you know me CT, I'm an angel. And ignore the fact that the friend that's coming in is a mutual friend of my best friend and I, and she's , and I have a crush on her. NO DRINKING WILL HAPPEN AT ALL!

Myth since you've lost so much, have you had any issues with loose skin?

I understand that for younger people the skin is pretty elastic so it's not an issue

It may take a while for my body to settle into the new shape.

I think I lost the weight slow enough (20 months) that I don't have massive skin all over but i'm a bit lose in places.

Eventually it should catch up and one of these days I will start doing some crunches and push-ups to start adding a little muscle to smooth things out.

One of these days.......

A gym membership would be nice but don't have the cash money for it at the moment.

Yeah. This should crush the myth that being poor somehow causes people to be fat.

As if it wasn't absurd enough just from inspection. You've managed to lose 160 lbs and you don't have money for a gym membership. Damn impressive.

In truth it is cheaper to eat like crap than to eat healthy.

Atkins means lots of meat which can be more expensive.

My Atkins menu is about 25% more expensive than my carb menu.

My old school crap menu was probably cheaper BUT, I paid no attention to portions so it probably wasn't cheaper because I would eat too much.

Of course adding fast food to the mix makes it more expensive than eating healthy with carbs or no carbs.

Right

But it's not like atkins is the only way to eat healthy

And couldn't you theoretically do a vegetarian version of atkins + eggs

Perhaps if I were insane.

Not going to convince too many people to cut out meat and heck even hamburger has gone up about 35% since I started the diet. Fresh veg is more expensive than canned crap sodium bomb veg.

And nope, you wouldn't be able to eat enough fat without the meat unless you pounded olive oil all day.

At least in my mind, it is a fact that eating carbs is a much tougher way to lose weight because your body immediately starts to store some of your food as fat while giving the brain the signal that it needs more carbs.

If you did a study of my diet the last two years, I bet you would find I cheated far more when I was off Atkins and trying a carb menu.

The lack of money excuse is still just an excuse. You can eat healthier even on a very low income but it is harder.

Heck, it pisses me off when I see the welfare crowd with shopping carts filled to the rim with total crap food and I have my little cart filled with 20 items or less which will feed me for 7-10 days.

End rambling rant

You wouldn't be able to keep under the induction level of carbs.

I disagree with Hulk on the length of induction. I think people should stick with induction until they are almost to their goal.

It's hard but I think finding a balance of carbs in OWL is much harder and I think most people fail at OWL.

Staying under 20 carbs and not eating lots of meat would be tough. I guess it could be done but it is already tough at times. It would be insanely hard if all you were doing is eating nuts and veg. I'm really not sure you could come up with a 1200-1500 calorie menu without meat.

Plus for me, I am terrible at sticking to portions with nuts.

I've bought plain almonds and even though they taste like wood chips, I still eat too many. Don't get me started on blue diamond. Those are nearly impossible to portion control. I've tried wasabi peas. Those are even harder to portion control that the nuts.

New low this morning. I have been stuck at 291 for about 3 weeks, mainly due to cheating on the weekends watching football.

Agree to disagree, but the diet wasn't designed for that. It can be done, but that wasn't what Atkins had in his mind when he "drew up" the diet. It is much simpler to stick to induction, but not everyone can eat the same shite every day for 20 months and not start throwing it up at some point

You say this all the time, but I have never read that induction is only for two weeks.

A diet isn't exactly supposed to be fun and games it is supposed to suck or you aren't doing it right.

Oh

Day 1 back on carbs - 1550 calories - 3 pound gain.
