Awesome job! I'm grateful for this group. Y'all are magically helping me maintain/lose this month, when it's typically hardest.

It's 15 degrees here in Philly. Brutal. My Raynauds is killing me.

You go to Philly often for work or you have family/friends up there?

Ouch :( my sister has Raynauds & lives in the Midwest. Bad combo.

Came across an interesting video on Youtube today that said that as kids, our fat cells don't really change in size.. if we're fat as kids, our bodies add fat cells. As adults, this reverses.. we don't add or subtract fat cells, but our fat cells expand and contract. 75-80% of obese children wind up being obese, unhealthy adults but only 10% of healthy kids wind up being unhealthy adults. Of course when you're taught bad habits as a kid it obviously leads to unhealthy habits as an adult, but there are also physiological implications that could obstruct weight loss in adults who were fat as kids because they have many more fat cells.
Fat cell number in kids is fluid, but constant in adults
Obesity in children article
All it really means is that it could be harder for people who were overweight/obese as children to lose weight as adults. The principles all still apply, but it may require lower calorie counts and more exercise to lose weight than individuals who gained weight as an adult. By no means is it an excuse to not lose weight.
Just found it interesting, and definitely applicable to me as I was obese from 3rd grade on.

That makes sense. My thin friends don't (typically) struggle on a daily basis with weight and food choices. They don't inherently have more willpower or whatever; they have fewer fat cells sending biological impulses to eat. I know it's more complex than that, and behavior has to be modified to adjust to our physical makeup, regardless. But it's good to remember when I'm feeling defeated. Gotta just power through & ignore my body sometimes.
