How is searing steaks on these things
I did the original Blackstone thread a couple of years ago. My temp hits 550 across the griddle so searing steaks isn't an issue.

have you done the cave man way?
No, but it sounds interesting. I'm gonna have to try it.
I did once know a burnt out hippie dude, that would eat raw steak. He pulled out a raw ribeye for breakfast at a festival, while everyone was hungover from the night before, and started eating it. We all almost threw up. He tried to say that's how cavemen used to eat, and it was more natural. We laughed at him and got sick a little more.
I like your caveman style a lot better.

I had a buddy show up with one in Thanksgiving last year. A week before this year's Thanksgiving, I bought a griddle. They're too perfect for camping.
Has anyone ever tried boiling water on it (obviously in a pot)?

For those of you who have this griddle, do you prefer the grease trap on the back with the lip or on the front without the lip?
Posted on 12/10/18 at 10:39 am to Gris Gris
I definitely prefer the grease cup being in the back. But I don't really like the lip in the front.I'm too clumsy and keep hitting my hand or wrist on the lip. Feels great touching 500 degree metal.

Yeah, the touching it with your wrist while cooking, flipping etc... is my concern. Splatter is also a concern though when there's no lip. Relative has one on his list, but it's another brand and just like the old Blackstone model with the trap on the front side and no lip. I'm trying to decide whether to go with what he picked or get the newer Blackstone. He researched what he wanted, though, and apparently prefers the other.

another brand
Considering this reply I got today when inquiring about additional grease cups. Another brand might not be a bad idea.
We are still waiting. We do not get much information on parts, but if we do we let our customers know. Since the "trump tariffs" many businesses have been trying to get parts just like us so it has been a little chaotic to say the least. If I get any information I will let you know.

This is the Camp Chef grease cup you can buy separately. It says it's compatible with other griddles, but I don't know about the Blackstone.

that one is about the same size but, the bracket on the back is different.

Maybe it's only compatible with griddles which have the front tray system. I think I'll buy an extra one based on the comments in this thread.

I've been trying to get a few extra grease cups from blackstone since i got it back in June. I guess i could modify the one you posted to work.

As much as I want one I would still take my camp chef stove with griddle instead.
Dang, I want one

Anyone have a rec on a cover for this thing? Is the Blackstone brand one on amazon worth a flip?
Or is hard cover the way to go? Mine will live under a patio cover.

i have this cover... easy to put on but a hole appeared on one of the corners where it sits. I didnt realize it for a few weeks. Rain got through it and boom... I had to deal with rust.
My deck is not covered but most of the grill is under the overhang of the roof. It was doing fine with the cover until that hole appeared.
I replaced the cover with the same one

Bought a 5 qt bucket from home depot and built a bracket to fit on the back of my blackstone. The little grease catcher they provide just doesn't cut it.
