Just wanting opinions. I've always cooked prime rib for family gatherings. Wondering if I should try a prime tenderloin this time. I have an event coming up. Tia!

I am a huge Prime Rib fan, but the last 2 Christmas's and this past Mother's Day I cooked a Prime Tenderloin and it was a huge hit. I just followed the Meat Church website's method. Smoked it, then finished on the grill.

That's like asking me which kid I love most.

We've been enjoying filets over ribeyes lately simply because we can have steak for an evening meal without taking the huge calorie hit and portion size. And it's good to switch things up on them sometimes. I'd do the tenderloin.

But if you told me I only get one steak for the rest of my life, it's prime rib all day everyday.

I should have prefaced my question by saying, I've never eaten a whole tenderloin cooked at home. I've had filet mignon's at restaurants. Just looking for the most tender and flavorful cut

What about a NY Strip roast? I've never cared for prime rib, but a strip roast is something I could get behind.

I like the whole tenderloin because I can cook the thickest end to mid rare and the weirdos can eat medium cuts from the tip. I'll do a prime rim for a man crowd but a tenderloin for mixed company. I love both.

I've smoked one and it came out really good. Well I love a prime rib, I feel that you have to really trim them well, are they can end up too greasy

I know this isn't what you are asking but last night I put a cheapo pork tenderloin in a crock pot with some Blue Runner sauce mix and served over rice. Great easy dish.
