poaching eggs in microwave?

Has anyone figured out an optimum way to poach an egg in the microwave? My attempts have ended in failure (blown up yolk, overcooked, unevenly cooked, etc). Please tell me if you've figured this out....

Norpro Silicone Microwave Double Egg Poacher, look on Amazon.

Wow--just $8 and it works in a skillet or microwave? Have you used it, and does it actually work?

I have one. Works to perfection...

I have an Amazon order going. I added that poacher to it. Hope it works.

I use a Lekue egg poacher from Sur la Table...I found that the key is to lower the power on my microwave to about 70% and only let it go about 40-45 seconds...usually less than 45 seconds....if you are making 2 at the same time, you'll have to experiment a little on the time.

Are the eggs runny? I looked at a video, but the eggs didn't look so good. They make some other interesting products, though I'm not sure I'd use any of them often.

Is that really "poaching"? Poaching is cooking in simmering liquid Even holders that go above the water aren't poaching. That is steaming.

You get a nice runny yolk?

I bought the norpro thingy; will see how it works once it arrives. I don't care if it's not technically poaching, just as long as the whites are tender/soft and the yolk is runny.

Exactly.
I ordered one too. Scanned a few reviews and it appears it might take some test eggs to get the cook time down to achieve a runny yolk.

Same. Would love to have a very quick single poached egg just like that. No fuss. No muss.

Me too--love the idea of poaching an egg in the time it takes to toast a slab of bread, or to assemble a simple salad. Bowl of lentils + poached egg = supper. Or a poached egg atop corned beef hash...I can see all sorts of leftovers being elevated by a poached (micro-steamed) egg.

I don't have a microwave poacher, just a semi-old fashion water poacher. I Pam sides and bottoms, add some cheese and chives and they're ready by the time my toast is ready.

There's a dentist in Minnesota who's an expert on poaching.
