I am hoping one of you has some experience with citrus trees.

I picked up a navel orange tree today at Lowes. The tag says it will get 12-14 feet high so I am assuming it is considered a dwarf. I planted it in the ground, which in our yard is more of a hard dirt/clay consistency. I am wondering if it would be better to dig it up and put it in a pot so I can more it indoors during the winter months. If so what type of soil do I buy for the pot?

Thanks

I would keep it in the ground, it should make it well unless it gets under 25 degrees for more than 8 hours or so, and if it does cover it with a blanket, I also put pipe insulation around the trunk

Mine are all in the ground and I cover them if it's getting too cold since they are still pretty young...about 4 years. They need a good deal of sun.

You need two if you want them to fruit, btw.

Keep it in the ground. Make sure you put 4 cf (bags) of mulch about 2" around it. Yeah it's a big circle, but it will work wonders for the tree. Get Christmas lights and cover the tree with them and visqueen over. Don't use the LED lights because they generate no heat.
