Tried Oscar's Pizza for the first time today. One word: OVERPRICED. Really overpriced. They have no lunch menu, and I think that hurts them because the place was practically empty at noon. Appetizers were +$10, and most dishes were $12.50 and above which is too much for lunch. Pizzas were pricey as well, with a large +$22. The food was serviceable but nothing special. I had a shrimp and ravioli dish that was OK but not great, and my friend had soup/salad that was Ok as well.

Until they reign in the prices, they'll struggle.

Went there a few weeks ago and got the stuffed mushrooms and a small D & A Gumbo Pizza. When I got the bill, I asked if the 4 stuffed mushrooms I got as an appetizer were really $13. The prices on the menu were a little ambiguous (they need to reformat their menus). The pizza was $15-16 if I recall, which I don't mind because most specialty pizza places (Rotolo's, Reginelli's, Mellow Mushroom, etc) you are going to pay somewhere in that price range. But if you want to talk ridiculous, checkout their ice cream prices. $6.50 for 2 freakin' scoops of ice cream! Are you kidding me? I can buy a half gallon of Blue Bell for that price. Now granted, they do make their own ice cream on site, but come on...no one is going to pay those kind of prices. I want them to be successful because they do have a lot of different options when it comes to pizza and it is another option to go eat, but I'm going to be reluctant to go until they drop their prices at a reasonable figure.

I really like their pizza. I really hate their prices. They need to drop the ice cream deal.

I am sure the lease or rent on that property is pretty outrageous.

Probably High Enough to were they have to charge those Prices just to try to pay the rent.

Good Luck to them....Ive been waiting for a place to open there.

All of my friends that went said their prices are way too high for lunch. They will also have a hard time in the evening since this part of town is dead at that time. I don't see this place staying open too long.

Their pizza is pretty darn good. They need to:

lose the ice cream

drop the prices by 3-4 dollars

and fricking deliver!

I've never seen duck, alligator sausage or the like on any of those other guys' pizza and Oscar's is quite generous with the toppings. People pay for quality, or at least the ones who know what they want. I work there and about 8 out of 10 people say that it was the best pizza or ice cream they ever had...and sometimes they say it about both! They are considering lunch delivery for large office orders; will update later.

Oh, and they have slices of cheese, pepperoni, and a specialty pie, with soup or salad for lunch every weekday. For $7 I believe.

Yum, Italian Pie! Apples and Oranges my friends.

True, but we're talking about pizza here.

Exactly. People have and will travel for pizza and the ice cream is developing a following of addicts itself. If you want Domino's and the like, go right ahead. Those who want the best are more than willing to pay for it. All others are welcome to graze at CiCi's or pick up a Red Baron

It's better to point out your strengths and not focus or name call any other place of business.

Already did. See the previous post about the amount, quality, and type of toppings. And yes, 8 out 10 people have said it's the best. Particularly the crust is off the hook. Come on in and tell them that it isn't. Is that too much too ask? I wasn't insulting the comp., just addressing the very weak arguments about price for quality.

Read the damn posts before responding next time. Just a suggestion

I'd like to point out to you that this is a very small sampling.

It may be. I don't know, never eaten there, but will certainly be opened minded and give it a try. However, pricing, which has been the topic of several threads, appears to be a concern for 8 out of 10 posters here.

I had lunch with my dad there last week. The pizza was some of the best of I have ever had but the prices are ridiculous. I'd like it again but if I'm spending that much on lunch I am going to get sushi.
