no i asked why ML wouldn't qualify per YA's criteria. Not how are Lilette and ML different.

Why would a place like Lilette qualify per your criteria, but not a place like Maison Lacour?

I have to confess to have never dined at Maison Lacour. I've heard good things about it, though, and I have a feeling it is probably the closest thing in BR to what I'm talking about, with perhaps the Brandt's place being one also.

From what I know, those places tend to lean a little more classically French, than French/New American, with a bit more staid type of menus than what you'll find at a place like Lilette. Not that one is better than the other, I just think it's probably a bit different.

1. Is Maison Lacour chef owned? Idon't know
2. Was the chef at ML named on of America's top Ten young chefs by F&W Magazine?
3. Has the chef at ML been nominated for several James Beard awards?

Michael Jetty is a chef and an excellent one. He will never get noticed in BR and I don't think he wants to. He has a terrific little place, a great family, and a very loyal following.

I like his place much much better than Lilette.

How could you forget Javier's? Incredibly good Mexican.

DFW doesn't get enough love.

In looking at the menu online, it seems a bit more pricy, as well.

ETA, or maybe not. They actually are about on par, having also just browsed Lilette's.

Stroubes would fall in your criteria. Chef Ferguson is very very young and pretty innovative. He will be a great chef one day. It will be hard to keep him in BR, I fear.

Many of those are not expensive. I've eaten at all of them, so I can personally say I liked them.

My bad, I should have made it clear I was starting a new thought.

not sure if anyone's seen this; just found it--225 magazine did a running thing abut local 'chefs' in baton rouge.

The cupcake queens?

The lady from Zeeland St. (I like this place, but she is not a chef).

I want to vomit after reading that list.

Yeah, I've heard a couple of rumors thrown out about him opening a place there. About like the Boswell thing we saw today.

I guess that's good enough for 225, and all they need to go with to list him among BR "chefs".

I don't think it is a chef list for BR. It is chefs that have appeared in 225.

to be fair 225 lists this as

For shits and giggles they should have put Daniel Boulud or Thomas Keller on that list.

I figured they were generalizing DFW. Considering it is one of the places that tons of people name on their "must dine" list when they come to DFW for a conference or something, it can't be too bad.

No, its horrible....nice patio though.

They may have flown over once or twice. So they would qualify.

No. I heard he is opening a place in restored warehouse near the convention center.
