(I know what you're thinking and no, I did not go to Commanders)

Thursday night: Antoines
App: Oysters a la Foch
Salad: De douer de palmier/vinegreete
Main: Pampano Pontchartrain topped with lump butter sauted crabmeat / Epinars creamed spinich
Dessert: None
Drink: Vodka Martinis 007, shaken, never stirred.
Review: Excellent service, excellent food, excellent drink

Friday Night: Palace Cafe
App: crabmeat cheesecake
Salad: None
Main: Pecan crusted trout over popcorn rice, sauted cream veggies
Dessert: Real bread pudding
Drink: Double vodka martinis 007, shaken, never stirred
Review: Excellent service, food was really good, martinis were abundant and right tasty.

Saturday Night: Dickie Brennans Steak House (with a quick stop prior at Acme's next door for a dozen)
App: Crab Cake
Salad: Wedge with blue cheese
Main: 14oz ribeye / wild mushroom saute
Dessert: None
Drinks: Triple vodka martinis 007, shaken, never stirred
Review: Excellent service, excellent food, my one complaint is that my 4th triple vodka martini 007 appeared to be stirred, and not shaken.

Sunday: Broke, ate lunch at Mimi's on Ibberville. 5 glasses of iced tea nursing the hangover.

If there's a better gloppy unappetizing looking mess of a dish than this, I don't know what it is.

Am I now officially a dreaded "food snob"?

To me you are because I have never had 3/4 (edit: more like 1/3-I am not that sheltered) of the stuff you tried this weekend.

From the looks of the WFDT threads on any given day, your weekend fare might be considered pedestrian.

You have me confused with someone else, perhaps glass. My WFDT threads usually consist of Tuna Salad on a cracker, State Fair Corn Dogs and/or a bacon sandwich. I am a simpleton man...

No I hear ya. I was saying that some of the stuff people cook at home on a given night (or say they do) is amazing and make your fancy weekend seem normal.

One night last week I had beets, lima beans and raisin bran so I am a simpleton man myself most of the time.

Going back in a couple weeks. May give Commanders another shot. Not the Sunday brunch though.

What's the reason for your recent culinary adventures? New girlfriend?

You really should go to Commander's. If you don't enjoy it, I'll buy you a meal. People around here think I'm nuts but I like the brunch at Brennan's.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Delicately removed from a can, heated to near boiling on a electric stove top, poured into a plastic bowl, liberally coated with "Can't Believe It's Not Butter" and lightly salted with Morton's.

As you can see I can be a food snob too.

Put it another way, I'll go back if you buy! But not the Sunday brunch, ok.

I went to the Doctor a couple weeks ago. He said I should enjoy the time I have left
