NOLA Food Rec's - (Trip recap on p. 3)

Are there any cost or dress considerations? Also, is there a type of food you'd like to show this person? What days of the week are you looking for lunch?

Honestly, for lunch, my first recommendation would be Peche in the warehouse district.

For old New Orleans and a visit to a historic grand dame restaurant, Galatoire's would be good.

Lunch or brunch at Commander's would be a treat. Take the streetcar to the restaurant from St. Charles just outside of the quarter.

Chargrilled oysters at Drago's at the Hilton Riverside are great. Eat those and eat a meal elsewhere.

Could do breakfast, lunch or brunch type food at Stanley in Jackson Square.

Really depends on what kind of food you want and other considerations. My suggestions are not all in the FQ.

Cost isn't much of a concern. Dress during the day will just be casual, walking around clothes. We'll be there Sunday and Monday the 29th and 30th all day. Arriving late on the 28th. Dinner I mostly have planned out already. Looking mostly for some great local stops, mostly new orleans style/cajun/creole food.

Your initial rec's look pretty good. We'll mostly be walking and staying around the French Quarter, but getting elsewhere isn't a huge issue either.

Keep in mind that this is the first weekend of Jazz Fest. Make your reservations as early as possible.

It would be helpful to know your dinner plans so folks don't suggest the same places or same type of food.

For Cajun based food in the FQ, you may want to consider K-Paul's for Monday dinner. That's the only option for you since it's not open for lunch on the days you're there and not open at all on Sundays.

Not in the FQ, but just outside off Poydras is Bon Ton for crawfish bisque and etouffee if you're looking for that.

You could go to Remoulaude which is the casual side restaurant to Arnaud's in the FQ.

A jazz brunch on Sunday if you can get in somewhere would be a lot of fun for your guest. In the FQ, you could try Brennan's, Arnaud's or Muriel's. Again, I suggest Commander's and taking a streetcar ride to get there. You could take the streetcar back or Uber for a quicker trip or vice versa.

For Monday night, a dinner at Brigtsen's would fit into the food desires you have. Not in the FQ, but you can Uber there.

Not sure why you want to stay in the FQ most of the time.

Haha she wants to see the french quarter. We'll be other places, and can go out of it for food as well, but some good quick places to stop while we are walking would be nice as well.

Yea, Commander's was one that was at the top of my list right now for a good brunch.

You have to remember that that is going to be a BUSY weekend. Everywhere is going to be packed, especially the FQ.

A nice weekend could look something like:

Saturday breakfast Morning Call in City Park
Saturday FQ Lunch Killer Poboys or Johnny's Poboys
Saturday Dinner Coquette
Sunday Brunch Atchafalaya
Sunday "Dinner" Bacchanal

Stopping in somewhere while walking may not be as easy as you're picturing it that weekend.

It's pretty easy to make reservations elsewhere and come back to the FQ if you wish.

If she wants to see the FQ, take a carriage ride and a walk around Jackson Square and you're done.

You could also look at R'evolution in the FQ for lunch, brunch or dinner.
