I just got this bad boy! 20.2 cu ft upright frost free upright freezer. I've never had one before. Once I get this thing to freezing temp, what do I need to have the freezer set at? Also how long does it take to get to freezing temp to where it would be safe to start piling my things in there.

If its ready frozen you can stick.it in there now. It will help more than hurt it. I wouldn't stick a large quantity of unforced goods in it. Mine stays around -3 to 6 degrees.

Fridges and freezers cool better with food than with empty as they work by drawing heat out of the items. remember chemistry, cold does not exist, it's just the absence of heat.

So the more in it the quicker and easier it is to cool.

Set it one notch colder than the medium and adjust from there. newer ones run colder than the older ones did, a lot of newer ones hold at -20 to -10. Older ones were between -5 and 0.
