I know Mr. B's, but I need somewhere slightly more casual and not in FQ. I hesitate on Manale's because of bad reviews but I like the charm of a NO institution. I was asked to recommend a place but I just can't come up with a good rec.

The best things at Manale's are the Italian food and the oyster bar. Atchafalaya does something similar with their shrimp and grits. Also, Boucherie has a BBQ shrimp po-boy, I'm they could just serve it a bowl with some bread.

Most other places I can think of have peeled bbq shrimp over grits or grit cakes or something along those lines. I can't think of other places either right now.

I went to Pascal's Manale some years ago just to go back to try the bbq shrimp. The shrimp were beautiful, but they were in a bowl of unflavored oil with a few flecks of pepper floating around. I don't know if it was a off day or what, but I couldn't eat them.

I think it's under new ownership now. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong. Don't know if anything changed. The Rockefeller sauce there was always delicious. I wouldn't go there for the shrimp.

When you say "more casual", do you mean shorts? Is this for dinner or lunch?

I'd go to Mr. B's, but you said that's not an option.

Don't.

If you're looking for BBQ Shrimp, that's where you go.

There's a parking lot next to the back side of Mr. B's. You can enter Mr. B's from inside the garage through the back if that helps you.

It’s my girlfriends request, not really my choice.
