I'm in the process of building my new house and I got a Thermador quote from Stantons. For the whole kitchen it was around 35k. The range is $13k alone. I have heard good things about Thermador, so I will most likely go with it. I currently have Viking Professional Series in my house right now and I fricking hate it. Every appliance has broken at least once except the warming drawer. I would advise that you stay away from Viking

The one advantage I could see of the wall steam oven is the clean up would be easier - don't have to bend down as far to mop up the excess water in the bottom of the oven - but it really isn't bad. The range comes with a big sponge that you drop in the well to absorb it.

We didn't go with warming drawer other than the one in the range. Have a 30" one in the outdoor kitchen if we need that much room. Also the micro-drawer has a "keep warm" function. Haven't tried it yet, but could see were it would work great on casseroles and soups, but not everything.

We got the 30" column freezer and fridge. Great bicep workout. They have heavy duty doors.

Daughter thinks the coolest thing is the dishwasher that projects the remaining time on the floor.

Went with U Line ice maker, but actually like the ice our old Kenmore made. The U line makes indentations in the cubes, where the Kenmore cubes were solid.

For the bar/butler pantry area I went with the Monogram under-counter wine cooler and the beverage center. Liked the look of them better than the U Line and they were cheaper. The wine cooler is great, but the beverage center shelves are not adjustable. Wish it had more flexibility to adjust for beer bottles.

Minor complaints, just happy the project is finished.

The wall one has more presets too but some of them are for warming functions that the one in the range dont need with its warming drawer.

I dont plan to have a warming drawer in the outdoor kitchen...I just plan to use the one inside or the ovens warm feature. I dont want to take up the space for it outside really.

Can only squeeze in a 42" fridge freezer so we went with the built in all in one not the columns.

Yea the time remaining is kinda cool...and it has a 20min quick cycle that would have been nice some times.

No ice maker...hear they are a pita and brake a lot. We will have a ice maker in the freezer and I have a chest freezer in the laundry room to hold some excess.

For the butlers pantry I am looking at Perlick. Haven't heard of them but I wanted a under counter freezer with a door...not drawers. Mainly want that freezer for martini and beer glasses and some ice storage. Perlick has one that has some sweet racks that hold the glasses HP24FS1L. I would also get the matching beverage center they offer for the few bottles of wine we would have and things for mixing like olive and pineapple juice...olives...things like that. I have a fridge only in the laundry room for beer/drinks and whatever else we need.

With the thermador package we got the 54" vent, blower for free and a small fee to get the top of the line dishwasher. Several grand off. The whole kitchen (with the builders discount) was just under 30k

Sounds great. I know you will enjoy it. I remember seeing your plans a while back. Planning and thinking through how you will use the kitchen is half the battle. Subcontractors are the other. Don't think they understand what you want even if they are nodding. Be there as much as possible and have the details explicitly written (and preferably drawn). Even with a set of plans, there are many on the fly decisions and 95% of the time the sub will not choose what you would have.

Good luck, post pics of the finished project.

Yea I built once before not nearly as "custom" as this one...and they poured the slab and already something is not right lol. Its minor but still not as planned. The builder knew what I wanted...I was there when he told it to the concrete guy...and it still didn't happen.

Why does it need to be a drop in if this is a new house?
