Seeking help.

I am looking for one of those round ramekin rack holder things that some restaurants used to serve with baked potatoes. I haven't seen one in a very long time, but I remember them distinctly at the Jungle Restaurant in Ville Platte. I would love to get my hands on one just for nostalgia.

I have googled most combinations of 'ramekin rack/baked potato/round' etc. Does anyone know what they are called?

They were round and had spots to put a couple of ramekins, butter/sour cream/bacon/chives etc.

Any help would be appreciated!

Google "salad dressing service rack"

Might be what you want.

If that is what you want, Sam's may have them.

I am certain (the company) Restaurant Supply has them. Maybe They are in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, with sales to public allowed. I enjoy visiting Restaurant Supply in Jackson and Meridian. Lots of stuff for quantity food production.

It's close enough for me...and it gives me an actual name that I can search for. I would like one with more spots (butter, bacon, sour cream, chives, etc). I recently acquired a whole bunch of ramekins and am making baked potatoes now, and it reminded me of the waiter dropping that off at the table when I was a kid and suddenly I am wanting one.

This thread reminds me of an embarrassing time in a restaurant. I flew up to visit my Grandmother, who took me to her favorite upscale restaurant to treat me. We were going for lunch, but apparently she called and asked/begged/pleaded (not sure which) to order from the dinner menu (special occasion since I didn't get to see her much), and whomever she spoke with on the phone said yes.

We're ordering and she insisted that I get the baked potato, which wasn't on the lunch menu. I could sense a cringe from the waiter and could only guess that they were going to be baking the potato from scratch. The potato and food came out a bit later and my Grandmother immediately asked where the (salad dressing service rack) was. I felt complete and utter sympathy for both the cook who had to stop cooking lunch to worry about a fricking baked potato and also the waiter, who as it turns out needed to assemble this massive (salad dressing service rack) which was two tiered and had many compartments. It looked like a mini Christmas tree. Various cheeses, green onions, bacon, sour cream, etc., etc. I know for a fact these things aren't just simply sitting around the kitchen while the potato isn't being offered, so I'm sure that this poor waiter had to drag out all of the ingredients and assemble the caddy. It didn't help matters that I only used the green onions and bacon lol. On top of all of it, I'm sure the server only got the 15% old person from the North tip.

It's amazing how different people's perceptions are if you've been in the business. My Grandmother saw it as a simple baked potato.

Ha--I was just thinking about the whole revolving salad dressing/potato topping presentation the other day. Funny how certain presentations go in and out of style. When I was a kid in the late 70s, these were everywhere. We used to frequent a restaurant that brought out the revolving salad dressing rack, and my mother would politely decline it & ask for oil & vinegar, which were presented in dinky little cut glass cruets. And those potatoes were always in foil jackets......
