Need a small mixer. What do you suggest?

I don’t have a blender or any type of mixer. But the Peanut Butter Pie thread has me on the hunt for one.

What would you suggest I get? I don’t bake a lot or make frozen drinks. So I don’t think I need a blender or anything to big/ fancy.

Or should I just stick with the old hand held cake mixer my mom passed on to me?

I do a good bit of bread making between cookies for the holidays, banana/nut and herb infused breads and never use anything other than a stiff wooden spoon to beat the dough.

And for stuff like smoother, wetter doughs, I just use a wire whisk.

I find all those appliances for dough mixing are just something else taking up cabinet space and to clean when used.

Anything less than a 20 quart Hobart is a waste of time and money.

I have a kitchen aid artisan that I think is fairly good quality but it's kind of small for larger batches of cookies or bread. Will probably upgrade to a larger one eventually.

My advice is if you already have a decent hand mixer and don't see a need to have a stand mixer then don't buy one. It's a big expense for something you arent likely to need by your own admission

If you don't bake often, Mama's old mixer is just fine. Don't replace what still works.

Appreciate it guys. Sounds like I can keep the old Sunbeam then.

The biggest issue with mixing by hand like I mentioned in a prior post is if you have issues like arthritis or weak muscles in your arms or not a firm enough grip to hold the mixing tool.

My wife can't mix the bread dough by hand enough to really blend it since the breads I make call for a very stiff dough.
