Time to replace my crawfish set with a new burner and bigger pot.

What do yall recommend? I saw a Outdoor Gourmet kit at academy but when i searched for info about it, it looks like it had some recalls in the past.

Any other recommendations or places I should go visit?

Bayou Classic Double Jet Cooker (185k BTU)
I think my pot is a King Kooker 100qt

Both get the job done. The burner can get a pot rolling pretty quick

burner on amazon

I think this is the pot. either way, id get a 100qt minimum

any double jet burner with a decent regulator, not the 10 or 15 psi junk they ship it with

if i were buying a new pot, i'd look at the rocket pot....they are a little more expensive but supposedly get the water boiling a lot quicker

i have a 100 qt pot in good shape so I'm not out to buy another one until i need to though

Bayou classic jet is a good value burner. Look on amazon or somewhere else online. Amazon sometimes has great deals on those. I have two single bayou classic jet burners and they do fine with an 80 qt and 100 qt pot. If you are getting at least a 100 qt pot, I'd just go ahead and get the double jet, as it is not that much more than the single.

But yeah, like others said, get at least a 100 qt pot.

The only appeal to these is that it's an all in one unit, but it is pretty pricey and not very portable if you want to bring your gear in the car (unless you have a truck). I'd rather have a separate burner and pot. If the burner fails, I can easily replace a part or the whole thing.

Have you seen the new design? Legs and burner are welded to pot and are permanently affixed. Seems like it would be heavy to move around.

Damn, I just went on there site and saw this. That kinda sucks. I wish they'd at least give you the option of just buying the pot.

I guess these weak people we have these days can't lift up the pot of water and put it on and off the burner.

The Rocketpot burner is 250 BTUs. A Bayou Classic double jet burner is 200 BTUs. Perhaps they wanted to ensure the burner was putting out the BTUs to get the most out of their pot. I imagine a few people bought a Rocketpot and put it on a 100 BTU burner and were disappointed in its performance.

Go to a restaurant supply store like Caire and get a heavy duty aluminum stock pot. They have whatever size you want with lids and baskets available. Or you can even get it in stainless steel.
You can even find HD pots online cheaper.

The issue I have with that is that it is no longer a "Rocket pot." It's a whole cooker setup and it's pretty damn expensive. If a 200 BTU bayou classic can get water boiling really fast, why would I want to spend an extra $400-500 on a rocket pot rig that also gets the water boiling fast, maybe a little faster, which could be due to just having more BTUs in the burner and not due to some "innovative" pot?

It looks like to me that their whole website is changed. Used to be able to order different burners. Had a special basket lid that kept boiled peanuts from floating. Had a whole lot of stuff not now found on their website. I wonder if they have changed ownership recently.

Yeah. Now it looks like you can only buy the 3 different sized pot/burner combos.
