Moe's does a pretty good job

as you state, it's good in a pinch. you certainly aren't getting bad food there, but neither are you getting good BBQ.

I'm just saying it's worth the 10 minute drive to get exceptional BBQ from Blue Oak. The other great places are further and more of a hassle to get to, but BO is easy access.

BOB can be a pain in the arse at lunch time if you want to eat there.

I think the biggest problem with good BBQ in Louisiana is the mindset. Pretty much everywhere you go in Texas it is 11-sold out. Most places shut down by 3 or 4 even if they aren't sold out. Here you see people complaining if the BBQ shop isn't open at 8 p.m. Having all day service like that gets you places like BRQ, mediocre on its best day.

Drive to Gulfport and go to Murky Waters. It's better than anything you will find there.

The Blue Oak guys learned how to bbq and run a restaurant at Moe's.

I understand the Blue Oak recs. The times I went they were pretty decent but if I'm ever anywhere near that area and craving BBQ I'm going to Central City. I get that some say it can be inconsistent but maybe I'm just lucky when I go because it's always been on point.

And I'm as harsh a BBQ critic as you'll find.
