So, so good.

28 oz San Marzano Tomatoes 146 calories
1 TBSP EVOO 120 calories
1 tsp salt
1.5 tsp sugar 24 calories
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1-2 tsp balsamic vinegar
Pinch of red pepper flakes

Total weight 24 oz
Total calories 290 calories
12 calories/oz
1 oz = 2 TBSP

Do not cook unless you want a marinara sauce. You can hand-crush the ingredients together, or you can use a blender to pulse a few times.

No. And it’s better if you refrigerate the sauce for a day before using.

No oregano, but you could certainly try some. The Cento San Marzano tomatoes I use have basil leaves, and that gives it all the herbiness I want.

quote:

23.5 oz San Marzano Tomatoes

that's an odd measure since the cans are almost always 28oz.

I like this simple recipe as well, which is very similar minus the Balsamic:

Yeah, not sure why I wrote that. I just looked and it is indeed a 28 oz can. I corrected it in original post.

28oz SM or Blanco Dinapoli
Salt
Olive oil
Fresh Garlic
Oregano
Fresh black pepper

Simmer to reduce slightly and I let it sit in fridge for 3-4 days for enhanced flavor.
