Get better go-to beers (voodoo ranger is good though)

Sam Adams Boston Lager is awful.

It’s nice to have safe standbys that you know are probably available in a lot of places.

These days, it's much more interesting to just try things that are available wherever you may be traveling that aren't easily available where you live. There's so much good beer being made that, as long as you aren't picking out something completely off the wall, chances are what you get will be at least as good as whatever you consider 'tried and true' and often times much better.

There's really no reason or need to have to stick to 'tried and true' when traveling these days. Hell, even bad hotel bars usually now carry at least one or two good local options of the place where they are.

I agree completely.

I’m always looking for local.

Damn, man. You have a bunch of breweries near you. Including one called Salty Nut, which I would check out on name power alone. Have you tried any of the local lagers?

Honestly, I'd take a Shiner Bock over Sam Adams. Look, it's all subjective. I meant no disrespect. If you really enjoy a Boston lager, I don't mean to judge. I just find it to be super malty for my taste.
