I usually make something on Friday night to eat while i have some whisky. I thought I will post the recipe for anyone interested.
I cook the mutton in pressure cooker to have a fall apart meat.
Marinate the goat with turmeric, chilli powder, salt, lime juice, ginger garlic, green chili, cilantro.
Start with oil and onion. Fry the onion till it welts. Add ginger garlic to it and cook till you don't smell it. Then add turmeric, chilli powder, salt, coriander powder. Cook till it becomes like a thick paste .
Now add freshly blended tomato to the paste and let it cook for a bit.
Add the marinated mutton and cook till the mutton gets browned and let's out the moisture. Now add enough water to it and simmer for a bit.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker. Cook till it let's out 5 whistles. Move the pressure cooker out of the stove and let it release the pressure.
After you open the pressure cooker, add cilantro, mint, garam masala and shredded coconut. Simmer at slow heat for 15 minutes and the mutton is ready
Final product.
I love goat meat with lot of bone and my five year old son loves the bone marrow and gravy. Proud of him.

Nope. It’s closed. I work right across at kennilworth and highland. It’s Robert fresh market now.
Fashion India on Coursey is the only Indian store in the area

I’ve wondered if some of the Mexican grocery stores carry goat. I’d really like to have access to some, I want to try making some nice crispy Cabrito

That's a shame. It was a great place and owned by a wonderful family. I moved from Baton Rouge in '98, but I think of that store every time I crave or (try to) cook Indian food. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

What part of the goat/ cut of meat is that? Seems like a recipe you could use venison for also?
Posted on 8/2/20 at 8:50 pm to baldona
Goat meat is a mixture of all cuts.
Yeah. you could the recipe for any tough meat like deer, beef, venison, pork.
You could do the same for chicken but no need for pressure cooker
