I think Dempsey's is overrated if anything. Got a shrimp poboy there once. Meh. Gotten each of the gumbos. Seafood was a salt lick. Chicken and sausage was decent. Gf got the seafood potato people rave about. I thought it was terrible. Don't get the hype.
Beausolei gets my vote. Even though the portions are a little small for what you pay

I need to try Anthony's then, because Pocorello's is pretty good.
My vote goes to LaReyna. Gets love on here but it's never crowded and given how small it is, that's saying something. I went last night for the best fish tacos in BR and my wife and I were the only two people there. Sat and watched spanish speaking TV with the lady and the kid. She was focused on the show, given that we were the only customers and were happy to wait until commercials if we needed something...

I mean, I have given Dempsey's numerous chances to impress me but it never has. I was thinking, "maybe it's just me." However, along the line I have found many other people who feel exactly the same way. I mean it's alright, but ONLY alright.

quote:It is now just Willies. Some of the best burgers and onion rings in town, and being slightly off the beaten path not everyone has heard of it. Dempseys is as solid as it gets. They are consistent and have enough variety to keep you coming back.

I don't know if I'd say it's underrated, maybe not frequented, but the little store at the corner of Roosevelt and Highland makes really good fried chicken wings and stuff.
I forget the name of it. It's right next to some wig place.
It's a little convenience store but they fry up some good stuff. Big wings, the fries are decent, not stellar, but I've had worse french fries, I think they're usually seasoned with seasoned salt.

I dated a chick from central that you might know. You ever hear of that chick who's bf from denham did her and her mom?
Went to denham along with other places. My friend, a mutual friend of her husband, pointed it out earlier on another board. We were like wtf that IS her! He texted her husband but I told him he probably just took it off the web. Still weird as frick.

Sorry, I don't know her or her husband. A friend of mine who is a New Orleans photographer had some of her pics posted for a calendar or some New Orleans-branded clothing, I think. I mean isn't that the point -- for her to get attention?

Even though it's closed, Ronnie's Ribs holds the title of Baton Rouge's most underrated and under utilized restaurant. She had some of the best tasting food in the city.
Was disappointed when it closed. I'd go for lunch on Friday's and there would be two other people in there. Wish I had the recipe for her jerk sauce. I bough it from her to have at home.

Nola poyboy Sherwood/coursey.
Grilled Philly shrimp poyboy might be the best poyboy I've ever eaten anywhere.
