Don't think anyone is mad about it. I enjoy good humor about us craft beer nerds. However, that article wasn't funny. The guy clearly has no knowledge of craft beer culture, so his comments about craft beer guys comes off as prickish and immature.
Now if he wanted to make a joke about hoppy beers, the endless amount of barrel aging, or the unusual ingredients, it would be somewhat funny.

Why does it have to be a national publication, you see it here everyday.

No you don't. Not one of us on here criticizes the non-craft drinkers for what they drink.
We criticize the beer, not the person.

Except he claimed to be a beer geek and to have participated in all the activities he mocks.

I can see his points to a certain degree, I'm a pretty big beer nerd and there are people out there that have me shaking my head at a beer event.

Same here. I find the pretzel necklaces go a little too far. I understand why they have them, but man does it push you to another level of nerd-dom.

Shut up. Just because I bring a pretzel necklace to cleanse my palate between beers doesn't mean you have to make fun of me for it.

EDIT: Dammit! BugAC beat me to the pretzel necklace joke!

He says he is, but it certainly doesn't look like he's very knowledgeable on the subject.

You'll find that these are usually worn by folks you would not consider beer snobs. They are the "noobs" of festivals.

These guys, the guys who dress in costumes, and the guys who run from booth to booth taking pics with big name brewers are the Star Trek fans of the beer world.

All those goof balls are still better than smug beer guy who sips a beer and then lists 25 different flavors he allegedly picks up in the beer.

These guys are more beer festival nerds than beer snobs. They're the type who like to brag, "I've hit this festival every year since it started," while pointing to all of the festival buttons that pinned to their vest.

I did not know this was a thing. I love it when I learn something new.

Ok, please help me out guys. I've never posted in the FBD thread, but I lurk it religiously. I'm definitely a noob, and trying to learn and trying new beers. Going to my first festival next month.

PLEASE tell me there's no such thing as a pretzel necklace.

Hey, I used to think I was a craft beer guy when I thought the be-all, end-all of beer was Sam Adams. Now I know it all begins and ends with Pliny the Elder.

This is laughable.

And fwiw I don't drink BMC unless it's free and the only thing available.

non craft beer drinkers criticize "beer snobs" just as much as "beer snobs" criticize BMC drinkers

in my experience, more times that not, it is the BMC drinkers that start any criticism, usually with something like "oh look at you, you're too good for Bud Light now? Queer!"

Doesn't make his statement any less true.

On this board the "snobs" criticize the people just as much as their choice in beer or other food and drink.

read the FBD threads

I don't think I've ever really seen any poster criticize anyone for drinking BMC other than a little mild mannered ribbing
