You can also cook them in a rice cooker with a little oil. They cook perfectly and you don't have to worry about burning them

So, what's the difference?

taste and smell. you get a hint of coconut. not overpowering. just enough. but it is more than that..the flavor is different..hard to explain...and it isn't just the coconut flavor.

it was one of the secrets of theater popcorn, and caused controversy when everyone went crazy about the health risks of saturated fats. but now they say coconut oil has the good kind of saturated fat, and thus the controversy dies down.

i don't add butter to popcorn, and only a little salt. thus, i'm not terribly worried about all that. it just tastes good.

Not really a no brainer. The water in the corn is converted to steam and the corn pops as a result of that fact.

Fold the top over and leave the bag loose. I bought my first microwave in the 70's and popcorn in a brown paper bag was the first thing we tried. This is an old trick.

I love buttered popcorn and that's not a good thing. It doesn't take much olive oil to give it a nice flavor. I use one that tastes good to me, sometimes a spicy one. I've been using Domenica's spicy oil lately. I also sometimes add freshly ground/cracked pepper. Just pour a little over it while it's still warm and shake it around a lot to distribute.

I love this Black Diamond popcorn.

I toss the popcorn around really well in the bag. I can't really describe how I do it, but it's sort of a side by side shake at an angle that makes the popcorn from the bottom come over to the top. Then, I drizzle a little more oil and do it from the other side of the bag. Just a little. Too much will overdo it.
