We stay in South Beach with no car so places I've actually been to are in that area. I ate at Shake Shack twice, but that's not very upscale One of the better meals I had lunch or dinner was Jimmy'z Kitchen. It's hidden in a tiny strip mall off of Alton and has maybe 12 seats in the place, but it is soooo good. We had the seared ahi salad and a cubano. Skipped out on the cheesecake but people were raving about it. Best dinner I had this trip was at Indomania, but they don't serve lunch. Family-run place, nice atmosphere, great food. B&B Joint has great burgers. If it were stone crab season, Joe's would be great for lunch; alas it isn't stone crab season so they aren't open at lunch and have limited dinner hours.

Some non Sobe places I've read great reviews of are:
Michael's Genuine; Michy's, but no lunch; and Bourbon Steak, no lunch

Check out this guy's blog and chowhound for more places. LINK

While in town for the SB we had a fantastic lunch at Versailles. My friends and I got with several of our taxi drivers and told them we wanted to experience authentic Cuban food. Everyone recommended Versailles to be the happening place for us to par take in. We were very pleased with the atmosphere even though we do not speak Spanish fluently it was an amazing atmosphere and the price was exceptional!!!

In Key West. Try the Conch Chowder @Sloppy Joe's. The Blond Giraffe has stores allover that sell frozen chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick.

Joe's is an institution - one of those places that everybody needs to go to at least once. Then head over to Calle Ocho for some caffe cubano (sp). It's the real deal.

I am so glad you asked this. Tonight is my last night in Key West and we've made an effort to dine at only top 20 restaurants while here.

Blue Heaven : One of the top places in Key West. We had scallops as an appetizer that were out of this world. It's a pretty famous place around Key West.

Southernmost Beach Cafe : This is rated a top place in Key West, but honestly I found it kinda meh. It was just okay. It's on the beach though and right next to my hotel so it was easy.

La Trattoria : Beautiful Italian restaurant. Their special the night we went was a garlic and parmesan bisque with lobster. They have a HUGE menu for an Italian restaurant and their items are really different.

Sloppy Joes : Big tourist attraction. It's Hemmingway's old favorite bar haha. The food was good and they have live music. It wasn't the best we've had or anything but it's something you should experience in Key West.

The Cafe : Rated #1 on the Tripadvisor.com restaurant reviews. We ate lunch here today and it was awweeeesssoomme!! It's a vegetarian place.. everything is really weird and different, but it's so good. The spinach and cheese gyro appetizer is out of this world.

Rooftop Cafe : We ate here tonight. It was one of the best meals we had in Key West and very beautifully presented. It's a perfect place to sit outdoors and watch the sunset. Got the lobster and gnocci app. Brag got the Local Snapper and I got the Wild Mushroom Risotto. Both were outstanding.

Not sure where I'm lunching tomorrow before the flight home, but I hope this helps you :D Sorry, no Miami recommendations. We flew directly into Key West.

If you guys are in Key West for another night you need to eat at Pisces...hands down the best grub on the island!!! Little pricey but nothing worse than Rooftop. But the food is unreal! If they have hogfish on the menu...you must get it. MENU at Pisces

Have eaten at the A&B Lobster House in Key West. Food and views were awesome.

Heard great things about 7 Fish.
