Going to Miami for a few days in a couple weeks and looking for brewery, cocktail and food recommendations in the immediate area (we don't have plans to drive up to Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, etc.).

On the brewery side, I know about J Wakefield. Where else should I plan? I'm a hazy and stout guy and my fiance, while not the biggest beer person, likes the same + sours.

For food and cocktails, money isn't an issue, but we're on vacation and I prefer not to go anywhere with a dress code. In general, we like ethnic food (Cuban recommendations welcomed!), but appreciate small American plates, and a good old fashioned. Being from Chicago, we're still experiencing sporadic weather, so I'd like to be outside as much as possible. What should we consider for patio dining?

TIA

It’s been a few years but last time I was there I went to a place called Yardbird. It was very good. They also had a huge selection of Whiskey and cocktails.

Lots of good beer in Miami area. To me, the best is 3 sons, but it is up by FLL. There are 2-3 other breweries in wynwood near Wakefield, . they are all walkable and wynwood is a cool neighborhood, so worth checking out, but the beer is not great (wynwood, Veza sur, and the concrete beach spot). Most of the breweries are out by the airport / Doral area. A few of the ones that I like best besides Wakefield are unseen creatures, tripping animals, beat culture, the tank.

For Cuban, Versailles if you have never been or Sazon if you are on the beach and don’t want to make the trip to Versailles.

Ceviche 105 for Peruvian

There is a lucali down there too if you have never been to the one in BKN.

I second the Yard Bird recommendation.

Mac's Club Deuce for a perfect, classic dive bar.

We were in Ft. Lauderdale/Miami last week.

Mostly in Ft. L - but in Miami we made it to Versailles and tried to get into Garcia’s (seafood) but were unable.

Versailles has outdoor seating right now - not much of a view but the food is great.

If you are around the beach, check out South Beach Munchies. It’s open 24/7.

Cheap, mom n pop cuban joint. We eat there 75% of the time we’re in Miami.

Versailles is your typical Cuban food spot with a lot of history so would go there for that. Get something other than the Cuban sandwich—try ropa vieja or pica dillo; something that comes with rice/beans and plantains. Flan for dessert.

There’s a great Italian restaurant called Fratellino Ristorante on Miracle Mile you should check out.

We love Finka, this Korean/Cuban fusion spot. Have to try the pork belly appetizer—excellent cocktails and the entire menu is delicious.

Not too keen on breweries there. The upper Keys have several that are probably worth checking out.

I would also recommend going to Montys in coconut grove midday for some good breeze; order a blackened Mahi sandwich.

Lastly, should check out Garcia’s Grille and seafood market. The owner is a former LSU baseball national champion and there are clippings and LSU memorabilia throughout the restaurant. Excellent food.
