Has anyone had these tamales? They're described as Mississippi Delta tamales.

There's no website. There's a Facebook page below and it looks like you either catch them at a market or festival or order by messaging or texting them.

Ya know what's messed up? I live in Santa Clara, California, but I have to come back to Louisiana to get a decent tamale.

I'm going to try and check that place out the next time I come back for a visit.

And if you are gonna do that you probably should roll to Neesie’s and get you some sweet dough pies!

The old liquor store in Crowley now technically named Rice City kitchen sells tamales and chicken salad. Everybody still calls it the liquor store.

They are so easy to make I have not bought any take out in over a decade.

Probability of any you buy being frozen/reheated is 100% and they are so much better fresh.

Chappy.... shite man, we’ve prolly ran across each other before

The wedding the other day, now the Crowley liquor store...

Also... seriously, go to Neesie’s and get some sweet dough pies. Those things are awesome. Have some good plate lunches as well. When we hit lions point to look at ducks flying to the coast and shoot a couple specks we always stop by both.

That and grab a biscuit in the morning at the original shop rite!

I started with the Alton Brown version of Tamales and just tweaked a bit here and there and use an old giant old steamer pot.

I would start here and change as you wish, it is far simple than it lookss and kids love rolling them.

Unfortunately I am not a recipe kind of guy, I season till it feels right and add stock to the masa/cornmeal on the same basis, I would give the below a 2 out of 10 on difficulty.

We liked it. Was kind of dead for a Friday afternoon, at least I thought so. Drinks were very good though. The wife liked it which is the most important thing...

Thanks. Did she say you had to order ahead of time? I think the FB page indicated that unless she had some on hand. I'm not sure when I'll next be in Lafayette. Are you getting some?

She's going to have the guy that handles the money and secures delivery call me. When he does I'll let you know what I find out.
