Reverse seared a steak earlier and the week and just can't get it cooked right. It's time for a meat thermometer. Any suggestions, biggest bang for your buck?

I use a $10 Weber. It's never failed me in the few years I've had it. It gives me reading in under 2 seconds. Plenty fast for me.

I assume you a referring to instant read. Thermoworks Thermapen is top notch. If the price is bothersome, you can get by with cheaper instant reads. Go on Amazon, there should be a bunch with lots of reviews.

Thermoworks thermapop. $30. Will never go wrong. Readings under 2 seconds. Backlight display on them and you can also adjust the orientation of the display in case you are a lefty or having it sideways or vertical.

Budget $50-$60, get a $10 Weber instant read on amazon or walmart for quick checks and go find one of the basic probe remote thermometers on Amazon for $40 - $50.

I use the remote probe one 2x month when I use my smoker, but I use the $10 weber instant read at least twice a week.

Another vote for the thermopop...bought that and this magnet for both of my brothers and my Dad, and it's been a great gift for all of them. I can't do $80-ish for the original thermapen but the thermopop has a nice, big easy-to-read display and is pretty darn quick. Just be sure to buy it from thermoworks directly and not a 3rd party seller.
