Do you only eat chicken salad and cereal through the summer?

I’ll never understand why people think gumbo is “winter” food. You eat hot food in June and July, right?

Troof. I think of it like Shrimp and grits.

Love gumbo and love "good" shrimp and grits. Any day of the year

Gumbo is good year round. You don’t need cold weather to enjoy a bowl of Cajun goodness.

My parents would cook a mean shrimp and okra gumbo mid summer because the ingredients were fresh. Fresh okra from the field and some fresh caught shrimp.

Blast these yankee meteorologists who like to add some spice to forecast calling cold weather gumbo weather.

Because it is. In the summertime I switched to seafood gumbo which is Full of delicious seafood obviously, and I prefer to chicken and sausage at any rate, nice rich darker roux to boot!

I cook them year round. You can go to a restaurant, it’s not seasonal. Bump the A/C down and enjoy.

Exactly what I tell the dumbasses that think gumbo or chili are "Cold Weather" food only cooked in the winter months.

I eat a hot dinner year-round and most nights it's something I spent hours cooking and gumbo is often on the menu.

To alleviate the heat in the kitchen in the summer months I'll often cook in bulk when it's cooler and put quart containers of cooked food in the freezer to be taken out, thawed and eaten later------and this is great in the summer months. Thaw, then warm up a quart of gumbo and cook a small pot of rice and done in 30 minutes with the stove.

But it's not. You go right on ahead and not enjoy it for several months while the rest of us are normal and eat it whenever we desire it.
