Canal Villere king cake was delicious. It was so good they closed the stores and retired the recipe.

Marguerite’s is a really good baseline cake, but the 1 I had from Tartine in Nola was top notch, same level as DP.

Man I miss the Ten M vending aka Chefs Fried Chicken king cakes from donaldsonville. Ole man took his king cakes with him to the grave. Cant believe something that good died so easy.

I just picked one up from Caluda's. About to give it a try. I've heard good things.

Tartine tasted like shite to me. All my guests threw their pieces away. My kids cried when I tried to give them a piece of it.

Caluda's

Better than Randazzos IMO. There's some family connection and there was some litigation. Ultimately I think it's a very similar recipe. But better.
