My wife LOVES margaritas!!! In the past few years we have purchased several blenders ranging from the cheap ones to the mid range priced ones. We use our blender almost every day and they all seem to fail (mostly the motor). We have recently decided to fork out a few hundred and purchase Jimmy's Margaritaville DM2000, which is supposed to be the premier margarita machine. DM2000

So, let's see whatcha got. Share your best Margarita recipes with me...also, if you have any experience with the DM2000 or DM1000 let me have it.

Thanks

1 can frozen limeade
1 can tequila
1/2 can Curacao

Fill blender with ice and blend until it's got the consistency you like. Easy and good.

Also, there's a mix called Lasko's if you have a margarita machine.

Thanks, I did some research and I think that it is "Lasco" margarita mix....not trying to be a corrective prick, I just wanted to help others out that might look for it.

Jimmy's Margaritaville DM2000

Was at a friends lake house a few weeks ago, & they had one of these! They made some awesome margaritas... unfortunately, I wasn't involved in the making process- just the drinking process!

I have to say I thought about investing in one after those though! Have fun!

We make plenty of Margaritas where I work. I have sampled that Lasco mix at the LRA food show, not bad. We use a Coca Cola product called Pepe Rico. The mix is really the key, find one you like.

2oz Cuervo Gold(or other decent gold tequila)
1oz Cointreau
5-6ozs of sweet n sour mix.
Mix with ice and turn on your super blender.
Dip the rims of your frozen glasses in your margarita and then dip in Kosher Salt. Fill glass with margarita. Garnish with lime wedge. To take it to the next level, float some Grand Marnier on the top.

Damn, now I want a margarita.

I don't know about frozen margaritas, but if you ever drink them on the rocks:

2 oz decent tequila (1800, Hornitos, Cuervo Tradicional, etc.)
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz triple sec (more or less depending on how much sweetness/orange flavor you want)

I don't drink, but at as a bartender, I can tell you that Cuervo is used for crappy margaritas. If you're going to do it right, go with some Patron, Tres Generaciones or 1800.

freshly squeezed lime juice thats the only secret to margarita's....other than that you can pretty much do whatever you want.

for frozen rita's just use less filler/mix (or more liquor) to compensate for the ice

I used to make five or six 5-gallon buckets of margarita mix at one time. Most of the stuff you get in restaurants is ridiculously cheap, generic tequila, triple sec, lime juice and lemon Kool-Aid powder

My cousin bought one of these. The double one. Each side makes 5 gallons. Not sure what he paid I'd guess a couple grand but he's a big drinker so I'm sure its a good investment for him. Does pretty good. You can use one side while the other is freezing so you never run out of cold booze.

Just got the machine home! It is as impressive as all of the reviews said. Im on my 5th Rita right now and what is really nice is that the ice is so consistantly smoth, perfectly blended and the taste is exactly the same from one drink to the next.

My wife and I cant wait to try all of the different suggestions that you guys and gals have provided.

The machine also has a daiqurie, colada and smoothie setting so come on with your best recipes for those as well as bloody mary's and mudslides!!!!!

Wooooooooohhhhh!!!!

If you're going to use his blender, then you should use his recipe.

Jimmy Buffet's Perfect Margarita
Crushed ice
3 wedges lime
2 ounces gold tequila (Cuervo 1800)
1/2 ounce tequila (Cuervo white)
1 1/4 ounces Rose's Lime Juice
1/2 ounce triple sec (Bols)
1 splash orange Curaao (Bols)

Put all ingredients except the 3 lime wedges into a shaker. Squeeze 2 of the lime wedges into the shaker. SHAKE WELL! Rim outside of glass only with lime. Salt only the outside of the glass. Add fresh crushed ice to glass. Strain mixture over ice. Squeeze remaining lime wedge in glass.

To answer your 1st question. The blenders were breaking because they are not made for ice crushing even though they may say it on the machine. Get an Ice crusher then dump the crushed ice into the blender. The Margaritaville machine is made to do both. I burned up several blenders before figuring this out. Now I have a Vita Mix Blender which works great.

I was using the ice crusher option on the on the freezer to crush the ice before putting it in the blender??? That is pretty small ice, its not like I was putting the whole cubes in there? I do agree with you though, I could have blended stuff with more liquid and not had a problem but a rita is supposed to kinda more icy than runny...at least thats they way we like them.
