Absolutely toup’s! Big omission on my part

Tried to go to Mandina’s tonight and it was a major clusterfrick of incompetence. Called them around 5:30 to see if they took reservations and they said they didn’t. No worries, we’ll walk down and get on the list. Get there around 6:15 and host tells us 35-45 minutes for a table. That’s reasonable so we get some drinks from the bar. 2 large groups come in right after us and are immediately seated. Clearly they had reservations while we were told they didn’t take reservations. Ok, maybe these were local regulars. I can live with it because your local regulars are your head and butter. An hour goes by and I go check with the host - 2 tables in front of us. So we wait some more. 30 more minutes go by and the host comes to us and points to a table they’re busing for us. So we are standing at the bar waiting to be seated and a server walks through and grabs a group at the bar to sit at that table. That group came in a good 30-45 minutes after us. So I say something to the host and the server tells me that group had reservations. They didn’t because I was standing at the bar when they put their name on the list. This server had grabbed a couple of other parties from the bar because the host was clueless and not seating people. So we left without eating after waiting almost 2 hours for a table. I should have left after an hour, so that’s on me.
