martini you remember the Bonapartes fried chicken that was in the building that has the pottery? Or it could be another building there now right by the Canes...That was the best damn chicken and the breast were HUGE.

You know now that you mentioned it it was Bonapartes Fried Chicken there and the Dannys was on Airline. Friends worked there when we were in high school.

my mom always started her gumbo by frying a chicken. She would make her roux and then add shrimp stock and the fried chicken. she'd boil it until it fell off the bones and then add her veggies and stuff.

I need to clean out my freezers in the worst way. There's no way I can cook everything in them. I didn't know this house project I've been doing since March was going to take this long.

why did it take 2 days to make a roux? you have to make that 2 quarts in several batches or something?
sounds awesome though. still undecided if I want to make a duck gumbo or stuffed boneless duck for the game. you may have just made up my mind
