Crowley?
Rayne?

I was looking to hit a small town place that is not too far off I-10.

I saw Feezzo's, Chef Roy's and Boudin King on Zilla's small town thread...which is an awesome thread btw .

Fezzo's in Crowley is pretty good, the Rice Palace (right before Fezzo's) has the best resturant gumbo I have ever eaten (everything else - meh).
Never been to the Fezzo's in Scott but it is right by Don's if you want to get some cracklins, boudin and/or de-boned chickens.

I would choose Fezzos in Scott first then Chef Roys above anything in Crowley. Boudin King is ok for a quick fried seafood platter but not that great.

There is a decent seafood place between Crowley and Rayne if you go Hwy 90. My vote would be to go to Fezzos in Scott and swing by Dons for some provisions.. (They also have good plate lunches too)

I have been to Boudin King only a few times and never have been impressed.

There is a place by the old Holiday Inn in Jennings, I think the name is Watson's? Pretty good and right off the interstate!

The original Fezzo's is in Crowley. Probably will not be as crowded as the one in Scott.

I would tend to agree.. Its ok if you want to drop by and get something quick but nothing I would go out of my way to get. Crowley has been lacking since Belizairs closed..

Chef Roy is decent but I never liked anything that was in that dump at Crowley Inn. It was a good move to open in Rayne. Fezzos in crowley now occupies the dump but they have a nice location in Scott.

Oh and make sure to swing by the Geaux Cup in Crowley for a nice mixed drink for the road..

It's called Walker's. I've known the guy who owns for 10+ years. Plate lunches are always a good choice there during the week.

I have to agree with you on the decline in Crowley. The best we have is Hawks and that is only if you are ready to spend a small fortune for crawfish, but they are good.

The Rice Palace used to be pretty good but it too has gone down. However, their gumbo is the best.

Chef Roys started in Crowley but moved to Rayne years ago. Have not been since he moved to Rayne but it was good when he was in Crowley.

Now Catman you are not impressed with the big Crowley Inn??

He could always go to Frosto which is one of Tommy Casanova's favorite places.

Frosto greese burgers and dip cone is a viable option..

I liked Chef Roy when he was in Crowley but I just feel dirty eating in that shite hole. (old location) Location in Rayne is much better but the food isnt as good. I guess I just wish Belizairs was still there.. It makes me sad to see all the restaurants that have occupied that building since it was a great location just off I-10. Crowley seems to only want to support fast food joins and Chilis.

Debating between Fezzo's and Scott and Chef Roy's I think.

Fezzo's have lunch size plate/specials? THe menu will not load for me.

I think they have specials for lunch but I dont remember the last time I went for lunch. BTW if you are looking for more cajun food I would choose Roys. Fezzos isnt really that for off from trying to be like an Acme Oyster house.. Very simular menus.. Roys does have a lunch menu. I would just choose Fezzos so I can easily stop by Dons.. Of course like I said Dons does serve good plate lunches too.

Hmmm...definitely looking for more Cajun. I was going to do Don's and Best Stop on the way home anyway.

Catman are you from Crowley? You seem very familiar with a lot of the places around here.

Yes, the place in Crowley where Chef Roys was a joke. The floors slanted so bad I don't know how the food did not end all on the floor.

I have had many people tell me that the mexican place where Belizaires used to be is the "Best Mexican Food" and I tell them "In Crowley since it is the only Mexican in Crowley besides Taco Bell and Taco Bell could give them a run for their money'!

Someone told me recently that they had turned the old post office/reception hall into a lunch resturant that was really good but I have never eaten there.

T.A. - Not sure what to recommend for cajun food. Around here if we want good cajun we cook it at home. I have to agree with Catman and Fezzo's in Scott might be your best bet.

What year did you graduate from N.D? Me - 1981 - looooong time ago.

Looking back at your posts you seemed to indicate Chef Roys was once at the Crowley Inn. I just remember it in South Crowley. That might have been when I was living in Cali.
