Strong possibility I'll be spending an extended period of time for work in Louisville in the near future

Looking for some recommendations on areas of town to stay, places to eat, and perhaps a decent sports bar to catch LSU games if anyone knows of a place.

TIA

Its a great town and being from New Orleans I could call that place home. Anything up and down Bardstown Road is your friend. Bunch of good bars and restaurants.

There's a new-ish part of town between the Highlands (Bardstown Road) and Downtown that has some good spots. Bardstown Road reminds me a lot of Magazine Street in NOLA, if you're familiar with that. For a great dinner, there is none better than Jack Fry's on Bardstown Road.

Also, bunch of good places up and down Frankfort Avenue, especially the Bourbon Bistro. Frankfort Ave is like a low-key Bardstown.

Some new good bars downtown, I've heard some good things about them but haven't spent much time there.

You'll actually get some of the best sushi you've ever had, really. There is a UPS hub in Louisville and fish that was swimming on the Pacific Coast in the morning is in Louisville that night. Its amazing.

Finally, Nachbar is a great dive bar. I've spent a LOT of time there. Its worth a trip and if you want to nut up and pay some $$$ for a great Bourbon list, there is no finer bar in Louisville than Proof on Main.

Oh, BE SURE TO BRING YOUR HOT SAUCE!!! Its a great city, but there isn't SHITE for spicy food.

You're really going to dig it.

That's a good looking steak

Is that a compound butter or is that cheese? Can't tell from the picture.

Great

I'm excited. Sounds like a pretty nice medium sized city the way you speak of it

I'm at work right now and just saw this. I'd be happy to give some suggestions when I get home later and can post plenty of links and the like.

Just a couple questions though. What's your budget and potential length of stay? Any idea the area of town you'll be working in? Are you big into the bar/club scene or more low key? General age range would probably help here too.
