Like the title says. I’m looking for a good bbq restaurant either near the airport or south Memphis/southhaven

Probably best to go to Memphis BBQ Co in Southaven. Unless you're feeling adventurous and want to venture into sketchier parts and go to Payne's.

Tom's BBQ off of Raines/Getwell is pretty good. It was a Diners, Drive-Ins, Dives place. Rib tips and chicken wings are what I get there

Cozy Corner as well... if you are adventurous. And Germantown Commissary if you feel like venturing out east... do NOT go to the Collierville location. They should remove the "Germantown Commissary" from their name so as not to sully the name of the Germantown Commissary.

This board never ceases to amaze me when it comes to restaurant recommendations. Better than google. Memphis bbq co is perfect.

I haven't been there in a few years, but I've always thought that Memphis bbq as a whole is overrated. The only three that were decent IMO were Central BBQ, BBQ Shop, and Germantown Comissary. The lamb ribs at Rendezvous were good, but the bbq itself was pretty mediocre. Never been to Memphis BBQ Co.

Gus's, on the other hand, is the best fried chicken I've ever had. I highly recommend it.

I live about a mile from The BBQ Shop and it is the best. The only problem is their service, it is horrible and slow. I swear they only hire people that are challenged somehow, nttawwt.

My favorites in Memphis are:

1. Central BBQ (ribs)
2. Germantown Commissary

Rendezvous isn't bad, if you have never been, and it is close to the Peabody. Corky's is pretty good too.

If you go to Germantown, get some tamales too.

I’ve been to both these places plus Central BBQ and Rendevous (several times )

All solid but none spectacular. I was hoping for more but I guess I’ve had a decent sampling of Memphis bbq
